π’ Nevada School District PPEL Renewal Vote
The Nevada Board of Education is asking Nevada patrons to consider the renewal of the districtβs voter-approved 10-year Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) β a key source of funding used to repair, equip, and improve our schools. Postcards were recently mailed to households within the Nevada School District with this info.
π³οΈ What does this mean for you?
β
No tax increase. Passage of this measure will not raise taxes, as it is simply a renewal of an existing levy.
π‘ Nevada patrons have supported this funding for over 30 years, helping maintain and improve school facilities.
π΅ The district currently levies $0.67 per $1,000 of taxable assessed value β half of the allowable rate β generating approximately $550,000 annually for essential facility and equipment needs.
π§ What does PPEL support?
Funds from PPEL help cover:
β’ Bus & vehicle replacement
β’ Roof repairs and replacements
β’ Technology and computer upgrades
β’ HVAC repairs and improvements
β’ Security and safety systems
β’ Flooring, painting, and exterior maintenance
β’ Grounds upkeep and equipment
β’ Music and athletic equipment

This week, our 2nd graders and 1st- and 2nd-grade multi-age students explored Ledges State Park and the Iowa Arboretum to learn about erosion. Students experienced firsthand how wind and water shape the land over time by carving cliffs, creating winding creeks, and offering the perfect setting for a fun creek stomp and some nature play!
