Originally from a Chicago suburb, I landed in Iowa after graduating from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Textiles and Clothing, Fashion Merchandising. I spent time as an assistant manager with JoAnn Fabrics before becoming an Extension Home Economist in Mahaska and Monroe countries in the area of child development. During my employment in Extension I returned to school and earned my M.Ed. in Home Economics Education at ISU. My next stop in the employment world was at Iowa State University, once more with ISU Extension working for AnswerLine, answering home and family questions for Iowa and Minnesota. I once again returned to ISU for the coursework required to acquire my teaching license. I was a student teacher at West Des Moines Valley High School, taught at Colo-Nesco High School for 4 years and began employment at Nevada Middle/High School teaching Family and Consumer Sciences/Health in 2011.
