I currently teach Honors English 9, World Literature – Western, World Literature – Greek/Roman/Eastern, College Composition I, College Composition Dual Credit, Advanced Speech Dual Credit, Exploring Literature through Concepts Dual Credit, and Innovations. I also currently coach Individual Speech through the Iowa High School Speech Association where I am also a district officer. I am a member of the district’s leadership team and building leadership team; this year I am also a local AIW coach. I am also part of the TLC group as a Learning Team Coach. Outside the district, I often teach courses for Heartland AEA and Drake.
I graduated from Starmont High School, Arlingtion, IA. I earned my BA from Luther College in English and Education with an emphasis in writing in 1994. I continued on to Drake University where I earned a Speech, Theater, and Mass Communication endorsement and a MSE in Teacher Effectiveness and Professional Development with an emphasis in Curriculum in 2001. I earned my Doctor of Education in Leadership (Ed.D) with an emphasis on Curriculum from Drake University in 2007. I continue to grow through other college and professional development courses.
I started my teaching career at Greene High School in Greene, Iowa for 4 years before starting in 1998 at Nevada High School.
